Fan Yang,soprano, born in Changde, Hunan, China. She is currently a resident artist in Opera Carolina. First prize winner of 2022 Alexander& Buono Vocal competition and gold prize winner of the Forte International Music Competition, also won the Most Expressive Performance award by performing in the winner’s recital in Carnegie Hall. In addition, she is the first prize winner of the International Music Competition “Rome” Grand Prize Virtuoso 2021. She also won many other International level of competitions.
Fan completed her professional studies and received Master of Music degree with Chicago Conservatory of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University. Before graduate school, she received her Bachelor in Music Education from The University of Kansas.
In 2022, Fan joined Opera Carolina as a resident artist, performed multiple solo performances and sang in chorus of Tosca, In 2017, Fan performed the full role of First Lady and scene role of Pamina in The Magic Flute with New York Lyric Opera Theatre; In 2018, she performed the role of Board Member in For the Sake of Narrative Closure, the world premier performance in Chicago Opera Fest X; She also participated in roles in Amelia goes to the Ball, L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, and The Cunning Little Vixen while she studied in Chicago.
On the concert stage, Fan has performed in Carnegie Hall, National Opera Center and Lincoln Center in New York; Ganz Hall and Studebaker Theater in Chicago; Kauffman Center in Kansas City, and Lied Center in Lawrence, Kansas. Belk Theatre at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
