Mila Gilbody

Ms. Mila Gilbody began violin studies at age 8. It was under the influence of her parents, she began to study the violin vigorously, though no one else in the family played a musical instrument, they loved and supported her of music. She completed undergraduate studies at Shanghai Conservatory in 1985, during this time Ms. Dorothy Delay taught classes. Mila was very much influenced by Ms. Delay and became a member of Shanghai Chamber Orchestra. After playing with the group for a coupe of seasons she decided to come to United States to continue violin studies. She finished her Master’s Degree at USC. Her former teachers were David Russell, Joseph Genualdi, Calin Lupanu and Eugene Campione, of which Campione was former associate concertmaster of Metropolitan Opera with whom Ms. Mila spent a few years sat next to him playing at Long Bay Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Mila currently enjoys playing chamber music with the local musicians. She is playing with Greenville Symphony Orchestra and she previously played with Charlotte Symphony for years. She continues to pass on her passion for the violin with a love for students and teaching.
